Contraceptives

Emergency Contraception

After unprotected intercourse, failure with contraception, or sexual assault, women have the option to take a sequence of two doses of oral contraception within 72 hours - prescribed by a clinician. Emergency contraception is not intended to be used as a regular birth control method and does not reduce the risk of STIs

Effectiveness with typical use:	Reduces risk of pregnancy by 75%
Advantages:	Intended for preventing a fertilized egg from implanting
Disadvantages:	Will not work if already pregnant May cause nausea
Cost:	$8-20
