Avoid the negative consequences of alcohol To avoid the negative consequences of alcohol, like acting mean, vomiting and/or having a bad hangover the next morning, follow low risk drinking guidelines: * For Women: No more than 1 drink per day * For Men: No more than 2 drinks per day * “A Drink” = 12 oz. beer, 5 oz. wine, or 1.5 oz. hard liquor
Know the signs/symptoms of alcohol poisoning The signs/symptoms of alcohol poisoning: 1. The person is unconscious or semi-conscious and cannot be awakened. 2. The person is cold or clammy and has pale or bluish skin. 3. The person is taking less than 8 breaths per minute, or there are lapses between breaths of more than 8 seconds. 4. Vomiting while “sleeping” or passed out, and not waking up after vomiting. If any or all of the above occur: GET HELP IMMEDIATELY, CALL 9-1-1! DO not leave the person alone, and turn her/him on her/his side to prevent choking in case of vomiting.
