Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Presentations
Choices about Alcohol: This session is designed to help students make educated choices about drinking in college. Activities:
- examine the pros and cons of drinking,
- provide information about the physiological effects of different levels of drinking,
- offer guidelines for lower-risk drinking, and
- assist students in setting goals and generating strategies for minimizing the harmful consequences of drinking.
Double Dare: Students test their alcohol knowledge in this adaptation of the Nickelodeon hit. Presentation features physical challenges performed while wearing beer goggles.
Party Smart: This interactive group discussion educates participants about Ohio and Ohio State University alcohol laws and policies as well as what it means to be a "responsible drinker." Participants are introduced to various alcohol issues through real-life scenarios. The emphasis of this presentation is on education and dispelling common myths surrounding college students and alcohol. Minimum of 20 and a maximum of 50 people for this presentation.
Women and Alcohol: Students learn how alcohol affects women differently than men. This information can help all women to make smart, safe choices about drinking.
Up in Smoke: Marijuana Myths and FAQ's: This interactive session looks at perceptions of use at OSU, health effects and the chance to debunk common myths about marijuana.
Kickin' Butts: Tobacco Jeopardy: This presentation is set up as a Jeopardy game that focuses on health effects of tobacco use, hookah and smokeless tobacco.
Unsafe, Uncommon, & Unwise: This presentation engages students in learning about the effects of common prescription medications. The session focuses on prescription medication use in college students and dispels some common myths.
Alcohol and Your Finances - A Good Mix?: Learn how money and alcohol are related - and how they influence your success in college. The goals are to recognize that money is a major source of stress for college students and to identify the role alcohol may have in that financial stress. We will discuss strategies to help minimize stress and associated risks, and how to responsibly handle your finances if you choose to drink. This program takes about one hour.
Financial Wellness Presentations
Struggling Student to Savvy Investor: This presentation is a financial independence 101 session designed for college students. The program can be adjusted for any group - undergraduate, graduate or professional - just let us know! This program is approximately one hour and covers budgeting, saving, credit, debt and investing.
Budgeting Workshop: This program is an interactive workshop in which students will learn the steps to create a budget, identify their personal financial goals, and create a preliminary budget. Helpful tips are offered, and students are encouraged to share in the budget creation process with their peers. This workshop can be adapted for various groups, and is 45 minutes to one hour in length.
Movin' Out: Presentation provides students with information and resources that surround planning and finalizing a move off-campus. Topics such as budget development, legal rights/responsibilities and rental options are covered. The presentation is approximately one hour in length.

Fitness Presentations
Fitness Basics: Are you looking to get fit or stay in shape? This session covers guidelines for improving and maintaining cardiovascular fitness, muscular fitness, flexibility, and body composition. It also provides information about campus and other fitness resources. Participants will leave with the information they need to build an effective workout program.
Nutrition, Body Image & Eating Disorders, and Weight Management Presentations
The Balancing Act of Weight Management: This session focuses on strategies for achieving or maintaining a healthy weight by discussing general and individual nutrition needs, physical activity, goal setting and lifestyle behavior change.
Body Image and Eating Disorders: Being Comfortable in Your 'Genes'. As many as 10 million females and 1 million males are struggling with an eating disorder in the U.S., and millions more are struggling with binge eating disorder. Because of the secretiveness and shame associated with eating disorders, many cases are not reported. This presentation addresses what body image is and the different types of eating disorders. In addition, learn what you can do if you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder.
Fad Diets: Are they 'phat' or making you fat? Did you know that 95% of dieters regain their lost weight within 1-5 years? If so, then why do we continue to diet? In this presentation, we'll identify popular fad diets, discuss the pros and cons, and look at what research shows is helpful for losing and maintaining weight.
Fast Food in a Dot Com World: Everyday, 1 out of 4 Americans eat fast food with one meal possibly packing enough calories, sodium, and fat for an entire day. Find out how you can survive in this fast-paced world by making meals in minutes at home that are delicious and nutritious to make. We'll also look at ways you can save calories (and guilt!) by dining out the healthy way.
From Recipe Rookie to Supermarket Savvy: Are you constantly grabbing fast food or stuck in a rut of having mac and cheese every day? Find out how you can plan easy, well-balanced meals that are delicious and nutritious to make. Discover tips and techniques for meal planning, grocery shopping, label reading and eating healthy on a budget.
How To Be a Sports Nut: Whether you're into basketball, football, gymnastics or ballet, discover the nutrients your body needs to support an active lifestyle. Get meal and snack ideas for pre- and post- workouts and events, and learn how to select sports drinks, energy bars and supplements that are appropriate and healthy for you.
The Right Bite on a College Campus: Did you know that only 6% of OSU students consume the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables per day? Find out how you can eat the "right bite" while in college by discovering your individual nutrition needs, serving sizes, how to create well-balanced meals, and dining out the healthy way.
Healthy Relationships & Sexual Wellness
AIDS in Black America: The "AIDS in Black America" video by ABC PrimeTime Live will be shown and followed by a discussion. A minimum of 90 minutes are needed for this presentation. A DVD and TV are needed to facilitate the program as well.
Contraceptive Grab Bag: Participants are divided into groups and each group selects one contraceptive out of the "grab bag." Each group has to answer a set of questions about the contraceptive they selected, ranging from how to use it to its approximate cost. After the groups finish answering their set of questions, the whole group reconvenes and the facilitator goes into more depth about each contraceptive. As always, questions and comments (as long as they are appropriate) are encouraged during this session. A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 50 people are required for this presentation.
HIV Jeopardy: This fun, interactive, and educational activity, based on the popular game show and adapted for a group presentation, addresses facts, statistics, and popular myths about HIV/AIDS. A minimum attendance of 10 and maximum of 40 is required for this presentation.
Latex and Safer Sex: Through interactive activities participants learn why it is necessary to use latex barriers and how to properly use them in order to reduce the risks associated with STIs and pregnancy. Some common misperceptions about latex barriers and other sexual health topics are dispelled as well as discussing other commonly asked questions. Participants have the opportunity to join the Condom Club at the end of the presentation as well. Minimum of 16 and maximum of 40 for this presentation.
Let's Talk About Sex: This session offers an interactive discussion regarding the risks associated with sexual behaviors as well as provides relevant information concerning sexual wellness and college students, including a question and answer session that addresses commonly asked questions and dispels common myths surrounding sexuality and sexual health. Minimum of 10 and maximum of 40 for this presentation.
STI Jeopardy: This fun, interactive, and educational activity, based on the popular game show and adapted for a group presentation, addresses facts, statistics, treatment, and risk reduction of STIs. Minimum of 10 and maximum of 40 people are required for this presentation.
STIs 101: The eight most common STIs (sexually transmitted infections) are the major focus of this presentation. Through group discussions, participants learn the truth and dispel the myths that surround STIs. Frequently asked questions as well as STI risk reduction are also discussed. Minimum of 16 and maximum of 40 for this presentation.
VOICES/VOCES: VOICES/VOCES is a single-session, video-based HIV/STI prevention/risk-reduction program. It's interactive and designed to encourage condom use and improve condom negotiation skills among African-American and Latino adults.A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 students that are gender- and ethnic-specific are highly recommended. At the end of this session, participants are given the opportunity to take samples of the types of condoms they have identified as best meeting their needs.
You want me to do what?: Talking about sex: As we are raised, sex is a taboo topic and makes it challenging to talk about previous sexual behavior, pleasure, complaints, etc. In this interactive presentation, tips on how to bring up the topic will be discussed as well as ways to make requests, decline requests, as well as provide constructive criticism to a partner. Although talking about sex is a skill that needs developing, this presentation helps to provide ideas on how to build the skill.
Sexual Violence Education & Support
Safe, Sane, and Sexy, we discuss:
1. How alcohol and other drugs influence decisions about sex
2. The difference between consensual sex and sexual assault
3. How to help friends who may be in a sexual assault situation
4. Available resources for students who have experienced a sexual assault
Sexual Violence 101: Sexual Violence can include sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, stalking and sexual harassment. This program provides an overview of what sexual violence looks like on college campuses.
Adolescents and Sexual Violence: Adolescents and children are extremely vulnerable to sexual violence. This program provides an overview of what sexual violence looks like in the adolescent/child population.
Personal Safety and Risk Reduction: This co-ed program provides basic information on personal safety and risk reduction for college students.
A Feminist Analysis of Rape Prevention Strategies: A comparison of traditional rape prevention strategies with the feminist reduction of vulnerability model.
Sexual Violence as Criminal Behavior: This program will define behavioral acts that constitute sexual violence and explore theories of the causes and prevention of sexual violence.
Sexual Violence and Gender Roles: This program will explore the impact of traditional gender roles and expectations on the incidence and prevalence of sexual violence.
Stress Management
Imagery/Progressive Muscular Relaxation (PMR): Are you or your students having difficulty relaxing? In this session, we will discuss (briefly) stress and various ways to manage stress and we will practice an imagery and PMR session. You'll leave feeling relaxed and with resources to use imagery in your daily life.
Stress Management: Through this interactive session, students learn all about stress, including definition, causes, consequences, and how to deal with it. Special emphasis will be placed on how to decrease or manage stress. Breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and imagery will be introduced. Students will leave feeling refreshed.
Time Management: Through this presentation, stress management will be discussed as well as various ways to manage stress. Time Management will be emphasized and students will leave with the knowledge of how to utilize time management as a stress reduction tool.
